A six-member STEM Racing team from Solihull, designing faster, racing smarter, and growing every season.
At Acceleracing WMG, we embody a spirit of innovation and ambition, consistently pursuing excellence in all our actions. We're dedicated to achieving success through creative solutions and a forward-thinking approach, making sure we meet our goals and exceed expectations.
We measure success not only by our achievements, but by our core values: integrity, respect and sustainability, which guide our mission to make a positive difference. We strive to foster a strong sense of teamwork and collaboration among all our members, because we believe success isn't just measured by whether you win or lose, but by the growth and development of each individual on the team.
The name "Acceleracing" captures our commitment to speed and progress, blending "accelerate" for rapid advancement with "racing" for competition and urgency. It reflects our dynamic approach and our dedication to delivering for our sponsors.
Our main goals for regionals are simple: perform better than last year and hopefully reach nationals. Most importantly, we want to take part, have fun, and make the most of it. This is such a prestigious competition, and it's our last year together as a complete team.
We believe teamwork is the key to success, because it fosters open communication and mutual support. Each member brings unique skills and perspectives, helping us tackle challenges creatively and collaboratively.
We hold regular meetings to discuss strategies, share ideas and give feedback, making sure everyone's voice is heard and valued. This approach strengthens the team and encourages members to take initiative and grow in their roles.
As we face competition, supporting each other is our biggest strength, leading to both personal and team achievements. Working together across our engineering activities and classes builds the teamwork and trust that carries us through race day.
Our car is a CO₂-propelled miniature prototype, designed in SolidWorks and validated through Ansys CFD analysis before being CNC milled at Aston University. Every surface and mass distribution is tuned against one metric: time across the 20-metre line.
After iterating across five concept designs and three final models, we selected Model 2 — achieving the best balance of drag reduction and handling stability. The curved rear wing generates no drag, the front wing channels air cleanly over the wheels, and the side pods are fully compliant with regulations.
The car carries our sponsors' logos and racing number, applied using the laser cutter. Every component was quality-checked against STEM Racing regulations before manufacture.
Every discipline — CAD, CFD, manufacturing, marketing, finance and sponsorship — is carried by a student. No outside help.
Technical, institutional and creative partners contributing the expertise that puts our car on the grid.
